The prettiest day of all: no makeup – Zion T

Happy the day after the weekends!I am seriously down with a serious case of I-need-a-vacay-now. But! Even if the day is almost over, let’s post this alright.

Last week I went on a shopping spree. Makeup shopping spree *with an excuse that I need them all, don’t we all*

Ok, so I’m not a beauty guru whatsoever. But makeup has always been a thing of my interest ever since when I was young. And cosmetic shopping is my guilty pleasure. So going nuts in that S cosmetic store happens every now and then.

But. Lately, I have been thinking. Since when did the I-can’t-go-out-unless-I-do-my-eyebrows, or the *no makeup days mean hoody days* start. Especially when Monday comes. Even though I know that I don’t have to, I will still drag myself out of bed earlier, just to have enough time to do my makeup for work. That’s what a grown-up lady will do eh?!

But. Zion T will tell you otherwise.

Lyrics + Translations

노메이크업 – 자이언티

No Makeup – Zion. T

진하게 화장을 하고 / putting thick make up

예쁘게 머리를 하고 / getting your hair done prettily

오늘도 집을 나서는 넌 예뻐 / you’re leaving home looking pretty again today

높은 구두를 신고 / wearing a high heels

짧은 치마를 입고 / putting on a mini skirt

있는 너 너무나 아름다워 but / for you it’s very beautiful but

넌 모를 거야 / you would not have any idea

자다가 일어나 살짝 부은 얼굴이 / the face that gets a bit swollen after waking up from sleep

얼마나 예쁜지 / how pretty that is

넌 모를 거야 / you would not have any idea

자기 전 세수한 니 모습이 / the look you have after you wash up before going to bed

얼마나 예쁜지 / how pretty that is

자꾸 거울 보지마 / stop looking at the mirror all the time

몸무게 신경 쓰지마 / don’t worry about your weight

넌 그냥 그대로 너무 예쁜 걸 / you look pretty just the way you are

No make up yea no make up yea

No makeup 일 때 제일 예쁜 너 / you look the prettiest on no makeup days

빨간색 립스틱보다 / rather than red lipstick

투명한 립밤이 좋아 / transparent lip balm is good

저 하늘 구름보다 자연스러워 / it’s more natural than those clouds in the sky

어제도 힘들었는지 / even though yesterday was also hard

너무 지쳐 보여 너 / you’re looking too worn out

이리 와서 내 품에 안겨 baby / come here to my embrace baby

넌 모를 거야 / you would not have any idea

아이라인 없이 웃는 / without any eyeliners on, your smiling

너의 예쁜 눈 웃음을 / your beautiful smiling eyes

넌 모를 거야 / you would not have any idea

메이크업 베이스 지우면 / if you wipe off your make up base

빛나는 우유빛 피부 / that bright milky skin

자꾸 거울 보지마 / stop looking at the mirror all the time

몸무게 신경 쓰지마 / don’t worry about your weight

넌 그냥 그대로 너무 예쁜 걸 / you look pretty just the way you are

No make up yea no make up yea

No makeup 일 때 제일 예쁜 너 / you look the prettiest on no makeup days

아무리 얘기해도 넌 모르겠다고 하지만 / no matter how many times I told you you’ll still feign ignorance

(바보 같아) / (just like a fool)

오늘 내일 다음 날도 매일 말해 주고파 / today, tomorrow, the day after, I’ll tell you everyday

(예쁜 얼굴) / (pretty face)

넌 그냥 그대로 너무 예쁜 걸 / you’re already beautiful just the way you are

No make up yea no make up yea

No make up 일 때 제일 예쁜 너 / you look the prettiest on no makeup days

Zion T’s songs are all amazing. His lyrics are also meaningful, without being overly lovey-dovey kind of romantic. And this song is one of them.

Such a reminder, to not let makeup define your beauty or confidence. Let them bb creamand eyeliners make you feel good about yourself, and boost them up a level or two. But don’t let them dictate or define how you should or should not be/feel.

The perfect makeup is what comes from the inside. Like a blush on your cheeks when you are happy or feeling loved. So girlfriends, listen to Zion T and believe that, even on no makeup days, you’ll shine your best beauty from the inside. Plus! Your skin needs to breathe as well.
